Chris Adessa Plein Air Landscapes
Chris
Adessa is an award-winning landscape painter living in Marin County,
California. A transplant from western New York State, Chris is well suited to
appreciate the majestic California landscape and glorious climate.
The ever-changing boundary between land and sea captivates her and she uses her
palette and brushes to capture the play of light on the mist and the rugged
cliffs and shores.
Her art career
booming, the past year is full of firsts: The di Rosa Preserve in Napa showed
her work at their SLIDESLAM event. The internationally acclaimed Sausalito Art
Festival invited her to participate; she appeared live on KRON teaching Henry
Tenenbaum to oil paint, she was in Marin/Scapes and a Guest Artist with the
Baywood Artists group (she’s now a full member); the I.Wolk Gallery in St.
Helena invited her to hang work in their 2007 Plein Air Exhibition and the Marin
Conservation League showcased her painting on the cover of its Annual Report.
Plus, she was invited into the Spindrift Gallery in beautiful Gualala, CA.
The Napa Valley
Museum juried her into their Plein Air Biennial Exhibits in 2007 and 2005 and
she won the “Crystal Award of Excellence” at the 2005 California Fine Art
Competition plus two Awards of Merit in 2006. She has won numerous awards
including the Napa Valley Mustard Festival, Marin County Fair - Fine Art
Division, Marin Society of Artists and others as well. She exhibits in the
Bolinas Museum Annual Mini Invitational Exhibition, West Marin Wild and other
shows that benefit our world.
Chris was
commissioned to paint a vineyard vista for a national TV and print advertising
campaign, and was hired as technical advisor to the creative director. She has
painted in the Point Reyes Plein Air Paint-Off and the Mill Valley Art
Commission's Plein Air Paint-Off. She has exhibited across the U.S. from
California to Pennsylvania and her work is collected internationally.
Her work has shown
in numerous venues across Northern California: Napa Valley Museum, Bolinas
Museum, California State Fine Art Competition, the William Lester Gallery,
Switzer Gallery, The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, Runnymede
Sculpture Farm, St. Supery Vineyards and Winery, Gualala Arts Center, Marin
Community Foundation, Falkirk Cultural Center, Artisans, Marin Society of
Artists, Toby’s Feed Barn Gallery and The Group Show in San Francisco.
Chris received her
B.S. with honors in Art Education from the Pennsylvania State University. More
recently, she has studied with truly inspirational artists who have shared much
painting wisdom, including Chester Arnold, Randall Sexton, Armand Cabrera, Van
Waldron and Brian Blood.
Please visit and see
